Molly Carter is an artist and educator based in Rockford, Illinois. She is the Artistic Director of the public art project, Bridging Communities One Stitch at a Time: A Community Quilt and Sails, funded by the RAAC and Union Pacific Railroad. Molly studied Fiber and Material Studies earning a Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she began her career as both an artist and educator, having been awarded a Teaching Assistant position at the Center for Book and Paper Arts, Chicago and at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Maine. She has gone on to teach studio art courses and workshops at numerous institutions including the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Block Museum at Northwestern University, Rock Valley College, National Louis University, Terra Foundation for American Art, and currently teaches at Keith Country Day School. Her art merges drawing, painting, collage, sculpture and fiber arts into a cohesive body of work which has been exhibited nationally.
